About this opportunity

It supports projects with the potential to generate high-impact evidence, transformative scientific discoveries, and scalable solutions to priority health challenges, directly informing policy, strengthening health systems, and improving population health outcomes across Africa. Grants of up to USD 10,000 are awarded for direct research-related activities, including protocol development, data collection, and community engagements, with projects to be implemented over a period not exceeding 18 months. Priority research areas include infectious diseases, AI in healthcare, HIV/AIDS, climate change and health, cancer, maternal/child/adolescent health, non-communicable diseases, and health aging. The opportunity is open to eligible researchers, academic institutions, and research organizations, including doctoral students applying as part of a research team. For-profit entities, political organizations, and lobbying groups are not eligible, and funding does not cover indirect costs or institutional administrative fees.
