About this opportunity

The D-Prize competition is a global funding opportunity designed for ambitious entrepreneurs. Its primary goal is to scale the distribution of already proven poverty interventions in the developing world, rather than funding prototypes of new interventions. The competition is open to anyone or any team, regardless of their business model (for-profit, non-profit, or hybrid). Applicants should be ready to launch a new venture and demonstrate a commitment to growing it into a world-changing organization, with a clear plan to transition to a full-time founder if they currently have other commitments. Winners receive up to $20,000 (with an average award of $16,000) in the form of a convertible grant. Beyond financial support, D-Prize offers assistance in attracting future funding if the pilot proves successful, and provides access to its network of past winners for ongoing support. The competition involves a multi-round process, starting with concept notes and resumes, followed by full proposals for selected participants, and final interviews. Proposals are evaluated based on the candidate's potential, their focus on distributing proven solutions, and the venture's potential for scale. D-Prize typically funds at least 15 proposals per competition cycle.

How to apply

Applicants must prepare a concept note (2-3 pages, depending on whether they are submitting to a Custom Challenge) and a one-page resume for each team member. These documents, in PDF format, should then be uploaded along with contact details to the D-Prize submission portal at www.d-prize.org/submit.
