About this opportunity
Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), is investing up to £8 million in the Engineering Biology Investor Partnership competition. This initiative aims to support the development and adoption of engineering biology technologies, focusing on the commercialization of late-stage experimental development projects that are close to market. Successful UK registered SMEs will receive grant funding from Innovate UK and aligned investment funding from a lead investor from the program's pool. These investors also provide commercial acumen in areas like leadership, market access, skills, and resources. Projects must have a total grant funding request between £250,000 and £2 million, with a duration of 24 months. The aligned private investment must be at least twice the grant funding. Applicants must be UK registered micro, small, or medium-sized businesses carrying out project work and intending to exploit results in the UK. Subcontractors are allowed, including overseas ones if justified. The competition has a funding limit, and success is not guaranteed, with a historical 20% chance of success in similar competitions. Innovate UK welcomes applications from diverse backgrounds and offers support for accessibility.
