Eureka collaborative R&D: Globalstars Japan 2027

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), is investing up to £2 million to fund business-led collaborative research and development (CR&D) projects focused on industrial research in partnership with Japan and select Eureka member countries. The competition supports innovative proposals developed between the UK, Japan, and other participating Eureka members, with Innovate UK directly funding the UK partners. Eligible projects must address one of the priority technical areas: Semiconductors, Quantum, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Advanced Connectivity Technologies, Biotechnology (including Engineering Biology), or Space. Proposals must have high market potential and result in innovative products, technology-based applications, or technology-based services. Projects can last up to three years, with UK applicants eligible to apply for a total grant of up to £600,000 per project. Projects must be collaborative and include at least one separate legal entity SME from Japan alongside the UK registered business, with optional participation from participating Eureka partners across Europe and beyond.

UK lead applicants must submit an application online via the Innovation Funding Service by 11:00 am UK time on January 20, 2027, and the international project team must also submit the Eureka application form via the Eureka platform by 12:00 am CET on January 20, 2027 (11:00 pm GMT on January 19, 2027).
