About this opportunity
The Mozilla Foundation Fellowships 2027–2028 is a 12-month program awarding 10 fellowships to visionary builders, researchers, and technologists working at the edges of emerging technology. The program aims to support projects that advance public benefit, challenge dominant tech paradigms, and put control back in the hands of people and communities. Focus areas include neurotechnology, biotechnology, physical AI, hard infrastructure (compute, energy, quantum), public interest AI, post-agentic web business models, and shared security. The fellowship offers two tracks: Track I for Embedded Fellows (partnering with host organizations in Indonesia, Chile, Germany, the United States, or Nigeria) who receive $100,000 total ($75,000 stipend plus $25,000 project budget), and Track II for Independent Fellows who receive $125,000 total ($100,000 stipend plus $25,000 project budget). Fellows also gain access to mentorship, project support, funded travel to key gatherings such as the Fellows Kick-off and MozFest, and a global network of over 200 fellows.
How to apply
Applicants first submit an online Letter of Intent (LOI) outlining their project, technical approach, and public benefit by December 17, 2026. Shortlisted candidates are invited in February 2027 to submit a comprehensive full application by March 12, 2027.
